Artist Statement

My name is Olivia Amann I am originally from Los Angeles, California, but currently studying at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. I am a student artist producing pieces both for myself and for sale. My main medium is acrylic paint, but I often incorporate other materials such as apoxie sculpt, wire, and ink. I also put my designs on clothing through a heat press or hand painting with fabric paint. My goal as an artist is to produce pieces that evoke feelings of unease in any viewer, while still pulling from my personal experience. In summary, I hope to have an audience connect with my work, while not having to know the exact context. That being said, a lot of my pieces center around the idea of control, losing it, finally gaining it, trying to let go of it, etc. My main inspiration is from my experience with emotional abuse, eating disorders, and anxiety. While this may sound slightly grim, I find producing works of art to be a great outlet for these emotions and experiences.
